The series barely finished, the American media are already announcing that a new Captain America is in the pipes. The question is: by when?
This is exclusive information from the American site The Hollywood Reporter : Marvel will soon be producing a new feature film, with a new Captain America, namely Sam Wilson, the hero of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Anthony Mackie is expected to reprise his role, as is his sidekick, Sebastian Stan, the interpreter of Bucky Barnes.
It will therefore be the third film centered on the character of the vigilante-patriot (after Captain America : First Avenger, The Winter Soldier and Civil War). For a few weeks now, rumors have been rife about the return of Cape Town ‘played by Chris Evans – rumors so prolific that Kevin Feige must have calmed fans’ enthusiasm about an upcoming return of Steve Rogers. While the Disney + series just ended on a disappointing note (our review is over here), we are not done with our team.
A costume not … easy to wear!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, this fourth feature film will indeed be written by Malcolm Spellman, the “chief scriptwriter” of the series, and by Dalan Musson, one of his colleagues (to whom we also owe Iron Sky 2). For now, it is impossible to predict when this new film will be released: Phase 4 of the MCU has been greatly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We are still waiting for the last appearance of the Black Widow by Scarlett Johansson, originally scheduled for release last spring. Will we have to wait for Phase 5?
For Disney +, Falcon and the Winter Soldier was a hugely lucrative operation: the series did better than WandaVision and The Mandalorian, the series derived from the universe Star Wars. The authors have also given themselves some latitude to develop a second season of the adventures of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.
The future of the MCU, eye to eye
While waiting for more information on this new project from Marvel Studios, the coming summer promises to be rich in super-vigilantes. Black Widow is announced for the July 7, 2021, or about a month after the release of Loki, a new Disney + series, expected for the June 11.
