There is a select group of characters in Marvel comics so powerful that they would be capable of destroying the universe if they wanted to, but not all of them are evil enough to do so.
Scarlet Witch
Recently, the Marvel Cinematic Universe showcased Wanda Maximoff’s potential as Scarlet Witch with the power to create her own reality and wreak havoc.
Just as the Witch is capable of creating and transforming objects, she can also destroy them and alter the reality of the multiverse thanks to Chaos Magic.
One of Scarlet Witch’s best-known atrocities is the time she rendered mutants powerless in a fit of rage.
However, Wanda is not the only one with the ability to alter reality, as there are other characters who are equal or more powerful than her.
Franklin Richards
The son of Reed Richards and Susan Storm is a mutant with the power to shape reality. As a child, he had fun creating pocket dimensions, but his powers quickly escalated.
Growing up, Franklin became so powerful that Galactus became his herald, but he remained a hero because he exhausted his power to rebuild the universe in Secret Wars.
Beyonders
Beyonder was introduced as an omnipotent being from the galaxy, but in reality he belonged to a race of beings with the ability to alter reality.
The Beyonders are not heroes or villains, but they can create and destroy planets at their convenience to keep the universe in order.
Owen Reese
Originally, Owen Reese became Molecule Man when he was exposed to a particle accelerator; however, it was later revealed that the Beyonders created it as a multiverse experiment.
Owen Reese’s death triggered the destruction of his universe, but in Secret Wars his powers were key to rebuilding the multiverse rather than ending it.
Reed Richards
Reed Richards created the Ultimate Nullifier to stop Galactus and then used it to preempt the destruction of the Abraxas multiverse.
Ultimate Nullifier is described as the most devastating weapon in the universe, as it can destroy targets from other realities and Reed Richards can use it whenever he wants.
Michael Korvac
Michael Korvac is a cyborg from the future with a computer system capable of absorbing and transforming any type of energy.
Korvac is so powerful that he acquired cosmic power and absorbed all the information from Galactus’ ship, which turned him into a kind of god capable of altering reality.
The cyborg was defeated and his powers were absorbed, but at any moment he can reabsorb unlimited energy to destroy the universe.
Nico Minoru
Also known as Sister Grimm, Nico Minoru is the daughter of a pair of dark wizards who belong to the group of supervillains known as The Pride.
Nico abandoned her parents to become a hero, but she kept her sorceress powers and is one of the most powerful characters in Runaways.
So far, it is known that Nico Minoru has the potential to cast any spell to destroy the universe, but its full power has yet to be explored.
Dark Phoenix
The Phoenix Force is an incredibly powerful cosmic entity that can destroy the universe and bring someone back to life after death.
Jaan Gray was possessed by the Phoenix Force during a trip to space, but turned into the Dark Phoenix.
Dark Phoenix absorbed a star and was about to destroy the universe, but Jean sacrificed herself to prevent the dark force from completely taking her over.
One Above All
One Above All is the most powerful being in Marvel, as it is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient.
He is not described as a god, but he is in charge of maintaining balance in the multiverse and is capable of eliminating any character just by thinking about it.
In reality, One Above All is the representation of the creators of Marvel (Jack Kirby and Stan Lee), so it helps the heroes more than it affects them, but at any moment it could destroy their universe.
