Maruarar Sirait Leaves PDIP for Prabowo-Gibran, Bali Campaign Team Unimpressed

Denpasar – Maruarar Sirait or Ara left PDIP and expressed his support for candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming. Ara’s support does not seem to have made the Prabowo-Gibran Bali Regional Campaign Team (TKD) proud.

“I think, Bali is Bali. National, yes national,” said TKD Prabowo-Gibran Bali Chairman Made Muliawan Arya or De Gadjah after the All In Prabowo-Gibran Bali Youth Declaration at the Ngurah Rai GOR, Saturday (20/1/2024).

De Gadjah said Maruarar’s support would not necessarily increase the vote target for Prabowo-Gibran above the target of 50 percent. He assessed that Maruarar’s support did not have much influence on Prabowo-Gibran’s vote share in Bali.

According to him, Gerindra cadres, coalition parties and volunteers in Bali continue to try to win for Prabowo Gibran. Regarding Ara’s support for Prabowo-Gibran, De Gadjah can only be grateful.

“Nationally, I don’t know the effect (of Ara’s support for Prabowo-Gibran). But, what I know, the effect is Prabowo and Gibran. (The vote target) is at least 40 percent to 50 percent,” said De Gadjah.

Reporting from detikNews, it didn’t take long for Maruarar to change his political direction. Not long after leaving PDIP, the famous politician immediately defected in favor of candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabumimg Raka.

Muruarar’s move certainly implies that President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) support is more inclined towards the Prabowo-Gibran pair. Because, one of the reasons Ara left PDIP, he said, was wanting to follow Jokowi’s steps.

This step of saying goodbye then resulted in him switching his support to Prabowo-Gibran. Ara admitted that he had consulted with various parties regarding his decision.
