No mother finds it easy to assimilate the idea that one of her children can go to live in another country. Y Maru Botana She was very clear in pointing out that she loves Argentina and would prefer that her descendants stay here. But she assured that she is not willing to clip their wings either. The cook had eight children with Bernardo SolaWhat are they Agustin, Lucy, Matias, Sofia, Santiago, Facundo (died 2008), Juan Igancio y Maria Ines. And he already had to go through that situation twice: first with the oldest and now with the second.
“I already had Agus for nine months outside. And I feel like guys make those changes. Today, for example, I have Luci who is 21 living in Hawaii. She stayed for about four months and this is the second year that she has done so. She is going to work as a domestic worker. And she is happy, ”she said in dialogue with if it happens, it happens, on Radio Rivadavia. And, to the surprise of the cycle drivers, she added: “I am a very open mom.”
How did the young woman come to move there? “We went to Hawaii for four years because it is a place that I really like. I always tried to travel a lot. And that is why these things are also important, because with this family it is not only a bolonqui but also an economic issue. So we try to do things taking care of that. And Hawaii was a place that captivated us, because people do one thing and are not paying attention to the other. And you can see that that came to her because of her personality. Last year she left with some friends, who were about seven or eight. And this year too,” explained Maru.
He then continued: “She chooses that. In December she leaves and stays there installed, happy, working as a domestic employee and seeing the landscapes. And I love it because it’s a way to become independent as well”. How much does Lucía charge for her work? “She earns 40 dollars an hour,” Botana responded with a smile, knowing that she is a much higher number than she could get here.
Maru recognized that Lucía was studying Graphic Design in Argentina and that her career was going very well. “It’s a cape,” she said. But she explained: “I always wanted in my life to have strong, independent and happy children. And it’s what I want. Agus was caught by the pandemic when he was in Belgium and did not know when he would be able to travel. He was alone in an apartment. And I told him: ‘Don’t come back’. So he went to Barcelona and stayed there ”.
How do you handle fears? “With everything that I lived through, I am no longer afraid of anything. For me, situations have to be experienced. I earned everything I have and it cost me. And I am very fond of living what touched me. When this happened to me with Agus, many moms told me: ‘You’re crazy! How are you going to tell him to stay?’ But I said: ‘He can live it. And, if he comes home, he’s going to come back frustrated. Everything ended great, today he works for Barcelona and already has experience. When I talk to him, it’s like I’m a couple. Sometimes he turns my head because he tells me something I’m doing wrong and he’s right. And it’s really nice when that starts to happen to you,” concluded Maru.
