Martyr Mihau Rapats to the Blessed Phrase! – Vatican Information

The proclamation of the Blessed Phrase of Martyr Michaeł Rapacz occurred on Saturday on the Church of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, Krakow, Poland. Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, President of the Society for the Nomination of Saints, presided over this service.

The Beatification Mass was held on Saturday, June 15 (15/06/24) on the Church of Divine Mercy in Łagiewniki, Krakow, Poland. Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, President of the Affiliation for the Canonization of Saints, represented Pope Francis and presided over the ceremony.

Mihau Rapatz or Michael Rapatz was born on September 14, 1904 in Tenczyn, Krakow, Poland. He started coaching for the priesthood on the seminary in Krakow in 1926 and was ordained to the priesthood on February 1, 1931. Rapats, who started his pastoral mission as co-priest within the parish of Povki, was assigned to serve in Raitsa two years later. He returned there in 1937 in command of the parish in Powki. However when he turned a German in 1939 he needed to cut back his pastoral actions. In post-war Poland beneath communist rule, the management turned in opposition to faith, the Vichy and the Catholic Church. On Might 11, 1946, an armed group of about 20 males arrived on the priest’s home in Powki and kidnapped the priest, Michael Rapats, and executed him in a close-by forest. The following day, some farmers discovered the lifeless physique of the newly blessed Rapats.

Pope Francis acknowledged his martyrdom on January 24 this 12 months.
