MARTOS (JAN), 5 (EUROPA PRESS)
The Councilor for Equality of the Martos City Council (Jan) restarted in April the psychological care service for daughters and sons of women victims of gender violence.
Aimed at minors between the ages of zero and 17, this resource promoted by the Andalusian Women’s Institute (IAM) aims to provide a “specialized, individualized response from a gender perspective to the problems presented by minor victims of vicarious violence , their mothers or other relatives of the coexistence unit and pregnant women”, as reported by the City Council this Wednesday.
The Councilor for Equality, Ana Matilde Expito, explained that this resource was implemented for the first time in Martos in October 2022. “After the high level of satisfaction that it generated in mothers and minors, as well as the high demand detected, it will be to carry out again, bringing this much-needed resource closer to the municipal sphere”, he stated.
The service basically offers three modalities: individual therapy for minors, counseling for mothers to offer them guidelines and tools to help their sons and daughters in their recovery process, and family intervention, when so required by the cohabitation unit.
This program seeks to improve the psychological, social and emotional well-being of minors exposed to gender violence. The objective is to help recover from possible sequelae, foster good treatment relations and advance in the eradication of gender violence.
Expsito highlighted the importance of the psychological department of the Municipal Women’s Information Center (CMIM) as “a fundamental pillar for working with women to break with gender violence and recover a project for a life free of violence.”
