The situation has not changed since 2016, as all the representatives of the Hungarian left supported the proposal regarding the mandatory distribution of migrants, which was accepted by the majority decision of the EU Council of Interior Ministers last week.

Those who do not do this can expect a severe penalty, 22 thousand euros, i.e. eight million forints, must be paid for each unaccepted illegal immigrant. According to the current plan, our country may be obliged to accept at least 8,500 and even 30,000 migrants annually; if we are not willing to do so, it could mean a maximum penalty of HUF 250 billion per year.
