St. Moritz (Switzerland), Jan. 14, LETA. Martin Dukur won the World Cup (WC) in the skeleton on the St. Moritz track in Switzerland on Friday, winning the World Cup for the 11th time and winning the European Championship (EC) for the 12th time, while Thomas Dukur took seventh place.
T. He had the fourth best time in the race, but in the sum of two races, the Latvian took seventh place, losing 0.73 seconds to the winning brother.
Gasner did well on the track to Shamrock’s turn, which was enough for first place at the time. After the finish of all the riders, he took the second place with 0.45 seconds behind M. Dukurs.
Grother lost speed after turning the “Horse’s Horseshoe”, conceding his compatriot for 0.06 seconds and winning bronze.
M.Dukurs, who was the last to go on the track, made a good trip to the “Horse’s Horseshoe”, after which the rebound from competitors started to decrease, but managed to protect the advantage of more than 0.6 seconds by sharing the best time with Gasner in the second race.
His time at the finish was two minutes and 14.39 seconds.

It has already been reported that in the first race T.Dukurs started the third, reaching the track record – a minute and 7.69 seconds. As the track is rebuilt every year, the track record is also fixed every year. Therefore, T.Dukurs, like the other three riders, reached the track records.
After the finish of all the athletes, T.Dukurs took the eighth place, the leader – his brother M.Dukurs – losing 0.68 seconds.
In the live broadcast of LTV7, the coach of the Latvian national team Mikhail Arhipov described that T.Dukurs had made a mistake in the eighth turn (“Shamrock”), as well as could run a little further in the start.
Immediately after the Latvian skeletonist, the winner of the previous season’s PK stage on the track went to the German rider Aleksandrs Gasners, who improved Thomas’ record by 0.23 seconds.
Gasner was overtaken by teammate Christopher Grother by 0.03 seconds, who was ninth, but immediately followed by Dukurs.
With the start, close to the track record (4.84), M. Dukurs, who was the tenth on the track, performed excellently, set a high mark in the “Horseshoe” turn and reached a new track record, overtaking Grother by 0.42 seconds.
Ronald Auderset, the Swiss who started with the second number, was the first to reach the starting record (4.97 seconds). It was later improved by British Matt Weston (4.84), Russian Alexander Tretyakov (4.83) and South Koreans Seungi Jung (4.81) and Joy Kim (4.78).
Behind Martin after the first trip there were three Germans – Grother, Gasner and Axel Jung (+0.52), as well as Russians Vladislav Semyonov (+0.59) and Nikita Tregubov (+0.61), taking the next place to T.Dukurs.

Martins Dukurs won with 1623 points. The second with 1551 points was finished by the German Axel Jungk, and the third place with 1547 points was taken by his compatriot Christopher Grother. 1249 points gave Thomas Dukurs eighth place in the 46 World Cup skeletonists.
M.Dukurs started the season with the second and 11th place on the Īgls track. He finished third in Altenberg and celebrated his victory, fourth in Winter in the middle, second in Sigulda, and in the last stage of the World Cup in Winterberg he won the infamous race in which the first race was canceled.
In the order of Tukukuk’s active stages before St. Moritz, he was in the 16th, 18th, two seventh positions, the eighth place, the second victory in his career in Sigulda and the fifth place.
Another German driver, Alexander Gasner, won last season in St. Moritz. The second place was taken by M. Dukurs, and the third – by the South Korean Sungbin Jun. T.Dukurs ranked fifth.
The European Championship medals last season were awarded in Winterberg. The winner was the Russian Alexander Tretyakov, the second was M. Dukurs, who lost the series of 11 consecutive European championships, and the third – home Gasner. T.Dukurs took the sixth place.
It has already been reported that in the women’s competition Andija Teļs finished in the 21st place in the PK rating, but EČ – in the 12th place, also taking the 21st place in the overall rating of the PK season.
There will be a bobsleigh competition for two-man crews on Saturday and four for Sunday.
Since 2006, the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) has been organizing the World Cup stages together, distributing five sets of medals in one stage – a skeleton for ladies and gentlemen, a bobsleigh for men in doubles and fours, and a bobsled for two.
The end of the season is scheduled for the Beijing Olympics in February.
