The island grew from 10 to 200 patients hospitalized this month. The hospital had to set up sorting tents to deal with the flow of sick people. Reinforcements are expected at the level of the armye, between 40 and 50 specialists, with resuscitation equipment.
13 people have died from Covid-19 in the last two days in Martinique. This represents 18% of all deaths linked to the virus in France over this period, while Martinique has only 300,000 inhabitants. Social tensions are also at their height: a demonstration against the health pass degenerated on Saturday, July 31, leading to the fire of a vaccination center.
