Martínez Laorden and Norte streets, between Plaza Diversidad and Comandancia, will be one-way starting tomorrow

LOGROO, 31 (EUROPA PRESS)

Javier Martínez Laorden and Norte streets, in the section between Plaza Diversidad and Comandancia Street, will be one-way starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 1, due to the new urban layout in which the East cycling axis is integrated. -West, which connects the El Cubo neighborhood and Murrieta street with Los Lirios.

As construction progresses, Plaza Diversidad will feature an outer cyclist ring (Dutch roundabout) along with a turboroundabout, a roundabout where traffic flows are channeled to improve capacity and safety.

In this way, leaving Plaza Diversidad, North Street remains as the only direction, which considerably improves pedestrian permeability by reducing the pedestrian crossing to one lane.

Meanwhile, all the traffic coming from Calle Norte is diverted to Calle Comandancia, to which a lane has been added for vehicles arriving from the Plaza Diversidad roundabout and those leaving the car park, which already has a space for taxis and for the stop of buses of discretionary service.

As part of the cycling axis works, Calle Comandancia, from Calle Norte, already has a two-way bike lane, while the sidewalk has also been widened and new pedestrian overpasses have been created.

From here, the cyclist axis varies in General Urrutia street, since it is not a shared cycle lane, since there are segregated unidirectional bicycle lanes on both sides since the section of the street allows it.

This cycling axis has a subsidy from the European Next Generation funds of 2.5 million euros, in addition to the subsidy for the first section executed through the MOVES II program, which contributed through the Government of La Rioja 50% of the total.
