Martínez concretizes in London projects by authors directly related to the Palma exhibition programming

PALMA 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martinez, has traveled to London to participate in a series of meetings and activities, with the aim of carrying out projects by authors directly related to the city’s exhibition programming.

Likewise, the first mayor has been accompanied by the first deputy mayor and councilor for Culture, Javier Bonet, and the general coordinator of Culture and Tourism, Fernando Gómez de la Cuesta, as reported by the Consistory in a press release.

In the British capital, the municipal delegation traveled to the studio of the artist Julian Opie, who recently exhibited at La Llotja. One of the sculptures in this exhibition, ‘Horse’, can still be visited in Palma, while some of the pieces that made up his Palma project are currently on display in London, in the program for public space titled ‘Sculpture in The City’ .

On the other hand, at the ‘Frieze’ contemporary art fair, they met with the Spanish artist Ángela de la Cruz, National Prize winner and Turner Prize finalist, who will exhibit an individual proposal at the Casal Solleric in January 2025.

Furthermore, at the Krinzinger gallery’s ‘stand’, the mayor and other municipal representatives have contemplated, in the company of the artist, his latest works.

Likewise, at the ‘Frieze Masters’ art fair, Martínez, Bonet and Gómez de la Cuesta held a conversation with the director of the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, Guillermo Solana, exchanging impressions about the upcoming exhibition by the American artist Peter Halley.

As detailed by Cort, this project will be inaugurated in the Madrid cultural facility on October 18, and will subsequently travel to Palma to be presented at the Casal Solleric, in March 2025.

Finally, the Cort delegation took advantage of their stay in London to visit Sir Michael Craig-Martin’s exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts.
