She is once again registered in the competition’s roll of honor, since 1967 she has been the fourth rider to succeed in the feat after Manuela Bedini in ’94, Alessia Marioni in ’98 and the State Police agent Francesca Ciriesi in 2022.
Giulia Martinengo Marquet, career and victories
Born in Palmanova in 1979, together with Stefano Cesarettohusband, rider and now trainer, founded over ten years ago the SGH Stables, a leading company in Italy and internationally for the selection and valorisation of sports horses. Solid athlete and indispensable member of the Team Italy, over the years the rider has been regularly called up to represent Italy in many international competitions as done at the Mannheim European Championships in 2007 (riding Athletica), in Madrid in 2011 with Chiclana and in Rotterdam in 2019 with Elzas. We will see her again in action shortly in Gorla Minore (Varese), as a member of the Italian team for the Nations Cup, starting next weekend. Martinengo Marquet’s palmarès also includes the victory with the Italian team in the Nations Cup in the Rome GP in 2018 riding Verdine, the fourth individual place in the Rome GP in 2008 and the fifth place in 2019.
Martinengo Marquet: “Calle Deluxe jumped well”
Today, in Cervia, another triumph to extend the list: “In a race you always hope to do well – declared Martinengo Marquet – especially in a championship. I knew I could count on a horse that was up to the task and that by riding well I could have my say. Of course, the gold medal is the icing on the cake after two fantastic days. Third title earned on the field, this time with Calle Deluxe who jumped very well. I can’t be happier than that.”

The silver instead went to the Piedmontese Grossato, riding the twelve-year-old Frenchman Cash du Pratel. Born in ’75, he started riding at the age of 8 in the stable Turin Horse Racing Society. Today he runs his stable in Villanova d’Asti. He participated in three European Junior Championships and two European Young Rider Championships. Since 1996 he has worn the uniform of an elite police officer. He participated in around fifty Senior Nations Cups, proving to be one of Italy’s strong points. He also took part, twice, in the European Senior Championships and in a World Championship, always reaching the individual final of the international events. Grossato was a member of the team that qualified for the Athens Olympics. In 2019 with Sella Italiano Lazzaro delle Schiave, a horse raised and trained by Grossato himself, qualified tenth in the Calgary Grand Prix.
Bronze to Giuseppe Rolli
Rolli finally took the third step of the podium, a well-deserved bronze. Born in Rome in ’78, but resident in San Michele di Tiorre, he divides his time between work in the family business and working with the horses. In ’99 he became Italian Young Rider Champion, participated in the World Championships in 2006 and took part in 4 Nations Cup races. The 10-year-old French stallion has joined his stable since 2022 Eiffel de House: together they are keeping Italian pride high on international fields. The podium, for him too, is worth a second joy: he obtained the pass to Piazza di Siena.
