Martincová received a ‘stamp’ for the premiere shift to the Top 100

It has been almost six years since Tereza Martincová penetrated the world ranking in the second hundred and, except for a few months, she has been stable in it.

He has been in the Top 200 for more than two years now, and in just a few minutes, he is sure to move another floor up for the first time in years.

At the age of 26, the Czech tennis player sneaked into the elite hundred inconspicuously in small steps. She took one of the important steps last September, when she made it to the semifinals of the WTA clay tournament in Istanbul.

Above all, however, it stabilized its performance. She has played at least one set in every tournament (including qualifiers) since last August’s season restart and flew out of the US Open without a single win.

And when in March this year she added some superstructure in the form of valuable prizes at larger and thus better-scored events, she multiplied her account to 852 points.

After falling out in the second round of the tournament in Miami on Friday, she was not yet sure that she would be among the 100 best tennis players in the world, but 48 hours later she definitely won the ‘stamp’.

It was decided on Sunday by the defeats of the last two Russian competitors, who needed to advance to the quarterfinals to overcome the Czech player. However, they fell two laps earlier: Ljudmilla Samsonova suffered a 0-6 1-6 debacle with Greece’s Maria Sakkari in Round 3, and Anna Kalinska lost 6-4 3-6 4-6 to Garbiña Muguruza of Spain after a fight.

Martincová will be in 100th place on the WTA rankings on Monday, April 5. In the same week, she will have the WTA 250 clay tournament in Bogota, Colombia.
