Martinair device in drug case to the Netherlands, pilots still in Argentina NOW

The Martinair device that was being investigated in a drug smuggling case in Argentina is coming back to the Netherlands. That confirms a spokesman for parent company KLM Thursday to NU.nl after reporting by the AD.

The three Dutch pilots who were previously arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking were released last week. However, they are not yet allowed to leave Argentina. According to a KLM spokesperson, they are now completing a standard procedure. Once this has been completed, they may return to the Netherlands.

Two weeks ago, 86 kilos of cocaine were found in a Martinair Cargo cargo aircraft. From the start, the three pilots denied having anything to do with the load of drugs.

The Dutch police assist the Argentinian justice with the investigation. Dutch agents flew to the South American country last week. Among other things, it is investigated how the airport controls were avoided.
