Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – America appointed Martina Strong as ambassador to Washington in the UAE, after nearly two years since the end of the duties of the former US ambassador to the Emirates, John Rakolta.
Sean Murphy is currently the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
And the embassy published a tweet on its page on the “X” platform, on Monday, in which it said: “Congratulations to Martina Strong, who has been approved by the United States Senate for her appointment as ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. We look forward to welcoming her to the Emirates soon!”
Emirati academic Abdul Khaleq Abdullah said on his page on “X”: “Finally, after a long wait, America appoints Martina Strong as ambassador to the UAE.”
Rakolta held this position between 2019 and 2021 under the administration of former US President Donald Trump.
Strong was the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Mission and Chargé d’Affairs in Bulgaria, and held advisory positions in Iraq and Poland.
The US diplomat holds a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, Texas, and a master’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
