The Canadian is in Philadelphia today to face the Flyers and their controversial head coach John Tortorella This evening.
We will also remember that recently, Tortorella made the decision to ban tablets on his team’s bench during matches, so that his players no longer have access to live replays when they end their presence.
There was a logic behind this gesture and the fiery coach doesn’t care what people think of his decision.
“I don’t give a damn about what people think. I was tired of seeing my players constantly looking at an Ipad and missing what was happening live during the match.”
– John Tortorella
But, as revealed by the journalist Eric Engels of Sportsnethead coach Martin St. Louis of the Canadian had already, long before his mentor Tortorella, made a similar gesture with the players of the Canadian. Only it was a tad less strict.
A bit like the players of the Flyers, the players of the CH are also not allowed to consult the tablets on the bench during the meetings. The only exception, St. Louis allows them to do so during all three commercial breaks per period.
the attacker Raphael Harvey-Pinardwho didn’t even have access to tablets on the bench in the American League, sees this directive as a good thing.
“If every time I came back to the bench I was watching the latest game on the tablet, I would miss everything that was happening live in the game. So I think that’s a good thing.”
– Raphael Harvey-Pinard
So that explains why we hardly ever see a Canadian player holding a tablet on his bench.
