Martin Scorsese will be the executive producer of Escape, the next film by Galician Rodrigo Cortés, which will be shot from the end of May in Madrid with Mario Casas and Anna Castillo from A Coruña as protagonists, as announced by the Spanish distributor Beta Fiction.
“You can already imagine what it means for a child who, one day, stood in front of a poster for The Color of Money and decided that a movie with Paul Newman and the Legend couldn’t be bad,” Cortés said in a tweet.
The cast will also include José García, Guillermo Toledo, José María Pou, Blanca Portillo and José Sacristán, and it will be the first film in Spanish by the director, who debuted in 2007 with the black comedy El concursante and went around the world with his next film, the claustrophobic Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds. He has also directed Uma Thurman, in Blackwood (2018), and Robert de Niro and Sigourney Weaver, in Red Lights (2012).
