In a previous post we already talked about Sony Pictures wanting it Spider-Man: No Way Home will be nominated in the Oscar category ‘Best Motion Picture of the Year’. There was going to be a big campaign and it seems to have already been kicked off by Tom Holland.
“You can ask Martin Scorsese if he wants to make a Marvel movie? But he doesn’t know what that’s like because he’s never made one. I’ve made Marvel movies and I’ve also made movies that have been discussed in the Oscars world The only difference is that one is much more expensive than the other,” Holland told The Hollywood Reporter.
“The way I fill in the character, the way the director draws the arc of the story and the characters – it’s all the same, just on a different scale. So I think it’s real art,” said the actor.
Different pressure in superhero movies
“When you make these movies, you know that – whether the movie is good or bad – millions of people are going to see them. If you make a little indie movie and if it’s not good, no one will watch it. So there are several levels of pressure in movie making,” added Holland.
“You can ask Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlett Johansson. They’ve made movies that are Oscar-worthy and they’ve made superhero movies. They’ll tell you they’re the same, just a different scale. And there’s this. less spandex in Oscar movies,” the actor concluded.
Previously named filmmaker Martin Scorsese the movies of Marvel theme park movies and he finds such blockbusters “no cinema”. The living legend behind many great films has received much acclaim, but also criticism, especially from the people involved in Marvel films.
