Martin Odegaard was substituted at halftime in Norway’s World Cup qualifying match against Gilbraltar to give Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta serious injury concerns.
Odegaard, who has dazzled the Gunners since joining Real Madrid on loan in January, sprained his ankle midway through the first half and was hooked by Norwegian coach Stale Solbakken at half-time.
Odegaard appeared to twist his ankle during Norway’s clash against Gibraltar and Erling Haaland looked concerned.
The 22-year-old made his best display in an Arsenal jersey last weekend when they came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie with West Ham.
But Mikel Arteta will now be sweating from his fitness and hoping to have it removed as a precaution as he looks to lead Arsenal to a solid finish in the final third of the season.
Erling Halaand seemed concerned for his teammate, who grabbed his ankle in agony after twisting it.
