Martin Garrix nominated for the fourth time best DJ in the world: “Very unreal” | Music

MusicDutchman Martin Garrix (26) was named the best DJ in the world for the fourth time in the annual election of the UK magazine ‘DJ Mag’.

He celebrated the milestone with a show from the top of the Empire State Building in New York. “I am very grateful to everyone who took the time to vote,” she said. “It’s really surreal to be number one again and I’ll never take the support I have for granted. Thank you.”

Garrix was also # 1 in the prestigious Top 100 in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In 2019, audiences chose Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Frenchman David Guetta won the last two years. Garrix meanwhile remained close to the top, with two second places and a third.

Martijn Garritsen, as the Amstelveen artist is called, has been active as a DJ for a decade this year. He had his breakthrough in 2013 with his debut single “Animals”, after which he collaborated with countless big names, including Dua Lipa, Usher and Bono and The Edge of U2.

The DJ Mag Top 100 was compiled for the 26th time this year. In total, more than 1.3 million people from 234 different countries voted. After Garrix, the top three are Guetta and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The top ten also includes Dutchman Armin van Buuren, Afrojack, Don Diablo and Oliver Heldens.

With four wins, Garrix is ​​now in second place on the list of DJs with the most wins. Only Van Buuren was number one with five times as often. Other Dutch people who have won the elections are Tiësto (three times) and Hardwell (two).
