Martin Dejdar, who is celebrating his 58th birthday, is one of the actors who can play both comical and serious roles. In private, he is an exemplary father who only wants the best for his family. What did he reveal about his loved ones?
Actor Martin Dejdar is one of the few artists who can be proud of a truly happy marriage. He met the love of his life, Daniela, who is six years younger, when he was not known in the media. They were married in 1994 and have two children together: son Matěj and daughter Sára.
Ten years ago, it became clear that America had become their second home. Specifically, sunny Florida. The reason was simple. “I mainly wanted the children to experience something different, learn the language and change the environment,” explained Dejdar in an interview for MF DNES, adding that they are extremely happy in Florida.

At that time, he organized everything so that he could be with his family as much as possible and only went to the Czech Republic for work. That’s how it worked for four years. In 2018, however, he announced that they had to return home permanently because they could no longer handle it financially. Occasionally, however, they like to return there for a spin. As he admits with a smile, he drives there like a cottage.

The children have already starred in the film
Son Matěj, who is twenty-four years old, played competitive hockey in America. He was destined to become a top goalkeeper and make a living from the sport. However, due to health problems, he had to give up his promising career. According to Dejdar, daughter Sára, who is eighteen years old, is a born exhibitionist with a sense of humor, she especially loves dancing.
And who knows, maybe one of them will follow in his footsteps one day. Sára and her father have already played in the fairy tale Duke’s Rock. Matěj appeared in the film Kluci z hor, where he portrayed his father in a younger version. Both looked very natural in front of the camera and evidently inherited the artistic talent from Martin.

While Dejdar’s father worked as a marine engineer and his mother a nurse, his grandmother was a volunteer and his grandfather a theater director. But the father also tried the acting profession once. He starred in the comedy Zdenek Troška Slunce, seno, erotica, in which he played the Italian director of JZD. “Dad wanted me to become a doctor, which he rejected the moment I started studying at the Chrudim gymnasium. He understood from my teaching that his dream probably wouldn’t work out for him, and rather than become a sailor after him, he preferred to come to terms with my acting dream,” recalled Martin Dejdar for MF DNES, who also became famous as the excellent dubbing character of Bart Simpson in American animated cult series The Simpsons.
