Evolving in the Mazda organization chart for more than twenty years, Martijn ten Brink has held many positions of responsibility, notably in the communication of Mazda Motor Europe (MME), such as Managing Director of Mazda Motor Benelux or, more recently, as Vice President Sales and Customer Service within MME. On the strength of these multiple experiences, he appeared to be the ideal candidate to succeed Yasuhiro Aoyama as president and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe. An idea confirmed by Akira Marumoto, president and CEO of Mazda, for whom Martijn ten Brink “Has all the skills required to develop our European activity. “

Top management reorganized

It must be said that the Japanese brand, which is considering many launches of services and products such as the Mazda MX-30, made the bold decision to make several leadership changes, these being “Planned as part of our medium-term development plan” recalls Akira Marumoto. Thus, in addition to the promotion of Martijn ten Brink, Wojciech Halarewicz, current Vice President Communication and Public Affairs at MME will take over the post of Vice President Sales and Customer Service at MME, previously held by Martijn ten Brink. Matthias Sileghem, current Managing Director of Mazda Motor Belux, will become Vice President Customer Experience, Communication and Public Affairs at MME.

MME’s new management team will also welcome Masaharu Kondo to its ranks, currently Managing Director of Global Sales and Marketing at Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan, and who becomes Vice President, Business Strategy and Product. At the same time, Alex Janssens, current Director of Information Services and Parts, Procurement & Logistics at MME / MLE (Mazda Logistics Europe) is propelled to the position of Vice President Information Technologies and Parts Procurement & Logistics. All these appointments will be effective as of June 24, 2021.

For his part, Yasuhiro Aoyama – who had headed the European subsidiary of Mazda since 2019 and whose most of the mandate therefore took place during the health crisis – will return to the company’s headquarters in Hiroshima, Japan as Director and SEO (Senior Managing Executive Officer). He will be responsible for overseeing global marketing, sales and customer service.
