Martijn Krabbé has cancer. The presenter does not reveal which form of the disease it is. He does say that “several treatment options” are possible.
“A form of cancer has been found in me,” 55-year-old Krabbé begins his message Instagram. “That is sad news, but I also see plenty of opportunities to do something with this. There are still several treatment options.”
“This is the most difficult for my family,” the presenter continues. “Fortunately, I can say that they are strong and even talk about it with humor. Cancer is not something to laugh about, but they managed to do it. With love you can actually conquer everything. So I feel good about it anyway. .”
Krabbé says he will “get back on the air again” once he and his family have “recovered from the shock”. “For now, I hope we’re left alone for a bit.”
According to a spokesperson for RTL, the presenter would like to continue working. “He will take it easy in the coming months and there is plenty of room for that. We find it inspiring how Martijn is dealing with the situation and ask everyone to respect the peace and privacy that he and his family need.”
RTL announces that the presenter’s illness will not affect the broadcast schedule for the time being. A new season of Buy Without Looking has already been recorded and will be broadcast from Monday, March 11.
