For years, attempts have been made to get Martien’s eye right again. Weekly Private has published a number of passages from his biography, showing that he has undergone many treatments and examinations. At some point he thought it was good and he didn’t want ‘that puppet show’ anymore. “I’ll quit,” he thought and decided to accept his fate.

Martien did some shopping for his interior design store in India, where he bumped into a businessman. “I met Mr. Cupta at a dinner party,” he explains. “” What’s the matter with your eye? ” he asked.” The businessman had an eye hospital in Delhi and wanted to help Martien.

“I say: ‘I get a new eye from you? That is not possible at all, is it?” Said Martien. He turned out to be right about that. After a number of tests, the eye transplant proved impossible, because the muscles behind his right eye had become so weak that a new eye would not be possible. The book Martien: from mayor’s son to lord of the castle will be in stores from 17 October.
