The hysteria and glee was hard to find in Chateau Meiland. The last episode of season four was all about Martien and his new biography. Not only COVID-19 caused a downer, the lord of the castle also had to deal with a family crisis. His beloved Eveline could not be there during his book launch. “That poor darling just had a heart attack,” he says with tears in his eyes.

It turns out to be the wife of Martien’s brother Jaap. “You just have something”, the lord of the castle tells emotionally. Although she is doing well, she cannot be there during the book presentation. And that’s a pity, because Martien wants to hand over the first copy of his biography to his lovely brother. “Of course he still doesn’t know anything about it,” he explains. “I am very sorry, because he comes alone (…) Of course that is terrible.”

Handing over the first book is also difficult for Martien. “I could always turn to that person for advice. Even in times when I had just too little money. Then he called and said: ‘Oh, I’m here for you.'” The waterlanders jump in his eyes when he book gives. “It’s great that I can receive this”, responds Jaap, who also gets it too hard himself. “I’ve always been there for you for a reason. That’s because you were always there for all of us, for our family and because you have a golden heart (…) You are a winner.”
Who was also not present at the book launch was former family friend Caroline. Her role in Chateau Meiland will be discussed in the biography. What exactly went wrong is not entirely clear, but Caroline would have been bribed to stay away from the Meilandjes. You can see all about it in the video below.
