The town has an extensive road network, 80 km of road, including 25 of community interest and 80 km of paths. Michel Déléris, 3rd deputy, tells us a little more about its maintenance, its cost and gives an update on future operations, particularly in connection with the electricity network.
A full-time official is therefore assigned mainly to roads. The municipality is also equipped with a mower, which means that this service is not subcontracted.
The road, but also public lighting
On the financial side, the municipal budget for the maintenance of roads and paths is approximately €50,000 per year, or 8% of the municipal budget. You should know that the repair of a road costs between 22,000 and 25,000€ per km. The budget of the community of commune, which finances the roads of community interest, is also around €50,000.
In recent years, many constructions have been carried out near the Puech Del Sol and Verniche roads, causing severe deterioration of the road network, which will have to be resumed when all the works are completed.
The municipal council also decided, in December 2021, to bury the electrical and telephone distribution networks, as well as the replacement of the public lighting system. The lights are of an old and energy-intensive technology.
It is therefore planned to install LED lights powered by solar panels. This will make it possible to terminate the Enedis subscription supplying the lighting in this district. The estimated overall cost of the operation is €177,000, with a contribution from the Syndicat d’énergie de l’Aveyon of €100,700.
