Manchester United already 1-4 of Tottenham Hotspur in the first half. MU has to play with 10 people after Anthony Martial got a red card.
The MU vs Tottenham duel in the Premier League continued at Old Trafford, Sunday (4/10/2020) evening WIB, has produced five goals in the first half. MU first took the lead through a Bruno Fernandes penalty in the second minute.
However, Tottenham then turned ahead thanks to Tanguy Ndombele’s goals and Son Heung-min. After Martial received a red card in the 28th minute, Tottenham made United sink even further by adding two goals.
Harry Kane then brought Tottenham 3-1 ahead in the 30th minute. Son once again got his name on the scoreboard seven minutes later to give the visitors a 4-1 lead.
The course of the match
The match is not even one minute, Manchester United have already received a penalty. Anthony Martial entered the penalty box and was brought down by Davinson Sanchez.
Bruno Fernandes, who advanced as a penalty taker, successfully carried out his duties. The Portuguese midfielder calmly outwitted Hugo Lloris to bring MU 1-0 up.
However, MU’s advantage did not last long. In the fourth minute, Tottenham scored a goal back through Tanguy Ndombele’s kick.
This goal came from the failure of Harry Maguire to block the ball in the MU penalty box. The chaos in front of the MU goal was then exploited by Ndombele.
Tottenham turned ahead in the seventh minute. From a quick free kick in the middle of the field, Harry Kane fired the ball through Son Heung-min. Son quickly dribbled into the penalty area and beat David de Gea by firing a left-footed shot at the far post.
Rashford’s shot hits the post! Fernandes sent feedback to Marcus Rashford who then penetrated the Tottenham penalty box. Unfortunately for MU, Rashford’s final finish hit the post. The line judge also raised the flag because Rashford was first offside when he received the ball from Fernandes.
Mason Greenwood’s speculative kick released from outside the penalty box. Greenwood’s effort was still wide of the Tottenham goal.
Son’s speed almost endangered MU’s goal. Erik Lamela gave Son a long ball. However, Son’s less than perfect control made the ball first secured by De Gea.
Serge Aurier moved freely from the right and then fired a shot which forced De Gea to make a save. Moments later, it was Lamela’s turn which was blocked and only resulted in a corner for Tottenham.
Disastrous for MU in the 28th minute. Martial received a red card for slapping Lamela when both were in the penalty box for MU in a corner kick for Tottenham.
Tottenham expanded the advantage in the 30th minute. Kane took advantage of the carelessness of MU’s back line to score goals.
Eric Bailly’s attempt to pass the ball to Nemanja Matic in the United penalty area is cut short by Kane. The ball Kane cut fell to Son’s feet. The South Korean attacker then passed back to Kane who was not guarded and broke into the MU goal.
Tottenham farther away from leaving MU in the 37th minute. Son finished Aurier’s bait from the right at the near post.
Tottenham’s 4-1 advantage lasted until halftime.
