The developer of the video game “Martha Is Dead” praised the performance of the PS5 in an interview with the OPM. Primarily, the Texel density was emphasized, which ensures that the images can appear in more detail than ever before.
Breathtaking graphics possible
In the April issue of the OPM, LKA studio manager Luca Dalco explained how the console’s technical capabilities allow the studio to create stunning graphics, especially in horror games. You read below his statement:
“The specifications of the PS5 are incredibly exciting – especially for us in the case of additional graphical performance and incorporation of the ray tracing architecture. Our studio has come a long way over four years. And Martha Is Dead will strive for photo realism. We are excited to see that next generation hardware supports us in bringing our vision closer to the players.
We worked a lot to be able to use high-resolution textures on the PS4. However, with the PS5 we can use an incredible Texel density of up to 4096px / m. This means that the image is fully detailed even in higher resolutions. It’s one of the most important advances in visual performance we’ve been waiting for. ”
Dalco also went into the PS5’s SSD, adding, “High-quality assets are naturally larger and benefit from faster loading times.” It’s a fact that hardly anyone should have doubted.
In the further course of the interview, the ray tracing was addressed, which Dalco regards as “incredible technology for independent studios”. It allows them to “reach new levels of reality without the need for large teams”.
According to previous plans, the PS5 will be launched in autumn 2020 at an as yet unknown price. Speculation suggests that Sony could work on two consolesthat have different performance levels and are accordingly offered at different prices. It is still unclear when the company would like to unveil the new hardware.
