Lieke Martens will leave FC Barcelona this summer. The 29-year-old player will let you know on Thursday on Instagram† She has been playing for the Catalan club since 2017 and will not renew her expiring contract.
“After five wonderful years at this fantastic club in this beautiful city, I have decided to say goodbye. We have all worked hard and I believe that we have achieved all our goals,” writes the Orange international.
Martens has been associated with a move to Paris Saint-Germain for some time. According to French media, the transfer has already been completed, but she does not want to confirm those reports.
She also says: “It’s time for another adventure and I want to thank the club, coaches, fans and of course all my teammates for their support. This is how I have been able to become the player I am today.”
Martens recently decided to break with her management. She has been looking after her own interests ever since.

Martens won Champions League met Barcelona
At Barcelona, which took her over from the Swedish FC Rosengard in 2017, Martens won three league titles. The biggest success was winning the Champions League in 2021.
This year too, the team made it to the final, but lost 3-1 to Olympique Lyon. Martens had to settle for a substitute in that game, after she had been sidelined for months with a hamstring injury.
The 133-time international is fully fit for next summer’s European Championship in England. For the Orange, the tournament starts on July 9 with a group match against Sweden.
