Martel. Art meets sport with Omar Hassan and Fanny Wallendorf

Saturday October 19 at 5 p.m., at the La Carette sports complex in Martel, the launch of the new issue of the magazine “Panard” will take place. In partnership with Éditions l’Attribut, the event will bring together publisher Éric Fourreau, author Fanny Wallendorf, and opera singer and former rugby player Omar Hasan to discuss the link between art and sport. Long opposed and observed with suspicion, art and sport have learned to know each other better and to meet each other. Although symbolic barriers remain, progress has been made. Sport, recognized as a social fact and an inexhaustible source of stories, inspires more and more writers and researchers, while many athletes express their passion for art.

These two worlds have a lot to learn and enrich each other. A “Cultural Olympiad” could bring them closer together.

Fanny Wallendorf, writer and translator, and Omar Hasan, former rugby player turned opera singer, embody this intersection between art and sport.

For its eighth edition, the Résurgence – Sportive Attitude festival explores the link between contemporary art and sport, inspired by Roger Couderc, famous sports commentator from Souillac. Echoing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the festival highlights the values common to art and sport: fervor, perseverance, team spirit…

For two months, Resurgence offers a rich program to allow culture to shine throughout the north of the Lot: a collective exhibition of contemporary art in Souillac, a constellation of exhibitions and a program of cultural events (workshops, conferences, visits).
