“Berlusconi was and remains our political guide. When we go to vote for the renewal of the European Parliament, almost a year will have passed since his death. The best gift we can give him is to obtain an excellent result in the elections, overcome the 10% threshold. I believe that none of us can erase from our hearts a feeling of gratitude for Berlusconi”, Tajani’s words from the stage.

At the opening of the event, the notes of the song ‘The Circle of Life’ began, the soundtrack of the Disney cartoon ‘The Lion King’ sung by Ivana Spagna, but there was no sign of the artist on stage. “It’s the beauty of live broadcast”, joked Moratti with the event presenter. A few minutes of ‘suspense’ and finally Spain entered the scene.

“Sorry, I was in the dressing room and no one came to warn me”, she justified herself before performing. At the end of the song, Spagna’s endorsement for Moratti: “I have always admired Letizia for her tenacity and intelligence, her sensitivity and preparation. Tajani: “No danger of fascist resurgence in Italy”

“It doesn’t seem to me that anyone”, among the government allies, “has said that they are nostalgic for fascism. No representative of the majority. It seems to me that everyone has said, including the Prime Minister, that it is a closed chapter and condemned. It seems to me that he always used very clear words from this point of view.” Thus Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the electoral campaign for the European elections at the Manzoni theater in Milan.

“It seems to me that it is a closed chapter, it is a question that was closed eighty years ago. There is no danger of fascist resurgence in our country. There was a Constitution, then if there is some folkloristic phenomenon… .”, added Tajani, explaining that “on April 25th I’m going to the Fosse Ardeatine. It is the celebration of freedom for all Italians, of regained freedom. It is not a party of the right, nor of the center or the left. No one can appropriate it, no one has the right to appropriate it because it is a celebration for all 60 million Italian citizens.”

And, again, he responded in the margin to the questions on the censorship case to the writer Antonio Scurati who was supposed to read a monologue on April 25th in Serena Bortone’s program on Rai. “I have never allowed myself to call anyone, either at Rai or elsewhere, to tell them not to let someone talk. For me this doesn’t exist. But we shouldn’t exploit everything either. These are storms in a teacup”. To those who asked him if there was a problem of freedom of expression, Tajani replied: “As far as I’m concerned, no. As far as I’m concerned – he added – everyone can say what they want, without insulting anyone”.

The secretary also commented on the amendment on the subject of abortion to the decree on the Pnrr at the center of much controversy due to the introduction of pro-life figures in the clinics: “There is the 194, no one has ever talked about changing it. It is a law that exists and must be respected. I always stand for guaranteeing everyone’s freedom, including that of those who are against abortion. You can’t touch the 194.”
