Marsilio’s victory in Abruzzo: in which province did he obtain the most votes

Final data: Marcus Marsilio obtained 327,660 preferences, Luciano D’Amico 284,748. In the whole of Abruzzo there is a difference of 42,912 votes between the re-elected centre-right president and the opponent supported by the entire centre-left. Where do they come from? No major analyzes are needed: three-quarters of them come from just one province, that of L’Aquila. That’s where the governor’s confirmation matured. To be more precise, not from the capital city, where the gap is limited (just under two thousand votes), but from the towns and cities: from Avezzano, where Marsilio got twelve thousand votes and D’Amico seven thousand, to a myriad of localities where the percentages for the center-right candidate were above 75 percent.

In the end, the count says that in L’Aquila Marsilio earned 32,903 of those 42,912 votes difference over his rival which gave him the regional victory. “The result in the province of L’Aquila was expected, certainly not in these proportions,” admitted D’Amico.

The province of Pescara also rewarded the outgoing governor, but with a smaller margin: 51.7 percent to 48.3, with a difference between the two contenders of just under five thousand votes. In the city, however, the balance of power was reversed with D’Amico gaining 52.29 percent.

In the province of Teramo, home to the university where D’Amico was rector, the centre-left candidate won 50.18% to 49.82%, just 500 votes difference. In the capital city the gap widens and D’Amico rises to 53.29 percent. Finally, in Chieti, Marsilio collected 51.53 percent against his rival’s 48.47.
