Marseille soap to treat our indoor plants

A traditional bar soap without additives and without perfume that will be grated or soaked. The soapy water will be sprayed on the soil or on the plant, or both!

Make this anti aphid soapy water yourself

You have 2 possibilities either you grate the soap, or you soak it directly in a bucket of water.

  • Run the soap through the kitchen cheese grater to get a good amount of shavings.
Count 100g of soap for a liter of (lukewarm) water.
  • Let the soap soak for 30 minutes in 1 liter of water (hot so that it melts faster) until the water is completely cloudy and white. The result will be the same but the bar will be very soft and distorted, it will have to be left to dry for several days before it becomes hard again.

In all cases, let the soapy water cool before spraying, it must be at room temperature so as not to create a thermal shock on the plant.

Black soap is also very effective

Do not dilute this soapy water

The whiter and more opaque it is, the more effective it is. It should not be diluted.
Keep a full spray bottle ready to fire nearby.

Diluted soap effective against many bugs

This natural treatment is effective against many insects that overwinter warm in houseplants. Mainly aphids, white flies, midges and microscopic white grubs.
They bite plants to extract the sap they feed on.
It suffices to flavor the sap so that the biters are disturbed to the point of going elsewhere to see if there is better.
It is therefore important to spray this solution on all surrounding plants.
Treat all foliage, stems and trunks, and the surface of the clod.

This same treatment against midges and microscopic worms in the soil

When the soil of our potted plants is hot, it allows the eggs and larvae of midges to hatch and develop in abundance.
It is teeming with bugs and the more you water the more there is!
Watering must be reduced, or even completely stopped for a good month.
Empty the water supply or the saucer completely.
Take action 2 or 3 times a week by spraying this soapy water on the surface of the soil of all your plants.

Ecological, economical and good for our health! this is a treatment that gives us a clear conscience.
