While 99% of global Internet traffic passes through submarine fiber optic cables, Marseille has an invaluable asset: the presence of 15 of these cables connecting the Marseille city to 43 countries and 4.5 billion mobile users. .

For 10 years, then 44th world hub, the city has known a dazzling progression by asserting itself as the strategic telecom, cloud and digital gateway between Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. This rapid growth is partly explained by the presence of strategic submarine cables as well as the deployment of data center capacities by Interxion, from which passes almost all the traffic passing through Marseille.
The projects for new cables, both in number and of high capacity, will make it possible to link Marseille to Latin America and to strengthen its connections with West and South Africa in particular. There is no doubt that these prospects will naturally position Marseille as the digital gateway linking Europe to the rest of the world.
“By moving from 9th to 7th global Internet hub, we are getting closer to our ambition of making Marseille one of the Top 5 global Internet hubs within two years. We have not identified any other city in the world that has experienced such growth, in such a short time, and which will continue to develop at this rate in the coming years. With three data centers already in operation (MRS1, MRS2 and MRS3) and a new data center under construction (MRS4), we will continue to support the development of Marseille. ” says Fabrice Coquio, President of Interxion France.
A noter :
• With MRS4, the delivery of the first phase of which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2022, Interxion will provide a total of nearly 24,000 m² of equipped space to its customers in Marseille, and will support the attractiveness and development of the territory on the digital world map.
• France remains the only European country to have two world-class hubs with Paris and Marseille
