A 25-year-old policeman was between life and death Saturday evening, seriously wounded with a stab in the abdomen after trying to intervene in a brawl between young people in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).
The police officer was in civilian clothes and was not on duty when he wanted to intervene in a dispute between several young people, around 7:30 p.m., in front of a bakery in the Chartreux district, in the heart of Marseille, said the Security Directorate of the Bouches-du-Rhône, confirming the initial information from Provence. According to the local daily, the policeman is a peacekeeper who had just left the police academy and had been posted to Marseille recently.
The young man did not a priori specify his quality as a police officer when he was struck by one of the people involved in the brawl. His vital prognosis was still underway late Saturday evening.
