Mars gave 2HRS: Arizona, Toronto, Houston and Cleveland won

Arizona 9, Pittsburgh 8
Josh Bell and Ketel Marte led the Diamondbacks to a 9-8 victory over the Pirates. Bell, newly acquired from the Marlins, hit two home runs, including a game-tying one in the seventh inning. Marte added two homers, raising his total to 26 on the season. Justin Martinez earned the win by striking out every batter he faced.

Toronto 8, Yankees 5
Ernie Clement drove in three early runs off Marcus Stroman, and the Blue Jays overcame Aaron Judge’s 40th home run to beat the Yankees 8-5, snapping New York’s five-game winning streak. Judge hit a 477-foot homer in the first inning off Kevin Gausman, giving him a major league-best 101 RBIs. With the homer, Judge joined Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Mickey Mantle as the only Yankees with at least three 40-homer seasons.

Houston 3, Tampa Bay 2
Yusei Kikuchi, making his debut for Houston, struck out 11 batters in a 3-2 win over the Rays. Despite allowing a two-run homer to Dylan Carlson in the sixth inning, Kikuchi rallied and tied Houston’s record with eight consecutive strikeouts. Kikuchi pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing just three hits. Justin Verlander was the last Astros pitcher to reach that mark in 2022.

Cleveland 8, Baltimore 4
Josh Naylor had three hits and drove in two runs to lead the Guardians to their fifth straight victory, 8-4 over the Orioles. Cleveland, with a best record in the American League at 67-42, scored eight straight runs to stay six games ahead of the Kansas City Royals in the Central. Cade Smith (6-1) earned the win with five outs in relief.
