Mars explorer says hello: “Don’t worry about me”

The InSight Mars lander landed on Mars on November 26, 2018 and has been collecting data on the planet’s surface and interior ever since. For example, the lander recorded Martian earthquakes and other vibrations.

Shortly after landing, InSight accidentally recorded the sound of wind on Mars. It was the first time humans could hear sound from the planet.

The mission is now coming to an end, as the Mars lander is running out of power. The solar panels that powered the robot are covered in dust, so that the batteries no longer recharge.

The energy of the Mars lander has been gradually decreasing recently, so that not all functions could be fulfilled. NASA now announces that InSight he doesn’t answer anymore contact attempts from Earth.

Now that the InSight mission is coming to an end, three Martian explorers are still active: Perseverance and Curiosity, both Americans, and the Chinese mars rover Tianwen-1.
