On Monday, a representative of the Marriott International press office confirmed that the brand’s five-star hotel in the center of Warsaw has ceased to be part of the portfolio of the world’s largest hotel company. This information was previously reported by the daily “Rzeczpospolita.”
Katarzyna Gospodarek emphasized that the decision to part ways with the owner of the facility – LIM Center, “was made after a thorough analysis.” The current priority is to ensure that the change process runs as smoothly as possible for guests and employees.
“Our principle is to conduct business in accordance with the highest standards, responsibly and in accordance with the law, including respecting the confidentiality of agreements and arrangements with our business partners,” said a Marriott International spokeswoman when asked about the reasons for the separation.
The hotel company expects the sign with its name to be removed from the building on Al. Jerozolimskie “in due course.”
The spokeswoman assured that Poland remains an important market for Marriott International. “Our local portfolio includes 23 hotels, and our development plans include opening 10 more properties in the next few years,” she wrote.
The Warsaw Marriott Hotel opened in 1989. It was the American company’s first property in Eastern Europe.

The skyscraper in which the hotel was located was designed by three Polish architects: Tadeusz Stefański, Jerzy Skrzypczak and Andrzej Bielobradek. The building became a symbol of the capitalist world and free market changes. Guests had access to over 520 rooms, including a two-level luxurious presidential suite, where the presidents of the United States, visiting Poland, usually stayed, as well as stars of the stage such as Michael Jackson, Luciano Pavarotti, and most recently Taylor Swift.
Marriott International began operations in May 1927, but it was not until thirty years later that the owners opened their first lodging facility, the Twin Bridges Motor Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The company now has 9,000 properties in 141 countries and is listed on the American Stock Exchange.
