Married at First Sight: Malou and Sarath’s Honeymoon Drama in Finnish Lapland – Will Their Marriage Survive?

In ‘Married at First Sight’, Malou (33) and Sarath (40) are on their honeymoon in Finnish Lapland. No matter how fairytale this journey may be, Malou still has to search for the spark. On the first day of the trip, she decides to share her doubts with Sarath.

“This is like being thrown out of the rollercoaster at all speed”

Malou takes Sarath aside in the cozy chalet. Their marriage is happening too quickly for her and she notices from Sarath that he is already really in love with her. Although Malou would like to go along with Sarath’s energy, she cannot. “I don’t feel it. And I think that’s so unfair, because you feel it with me.” Sarath finds it admirable that Malou dares to share her feelings. “It also says something about your respect for me.” Then tears well up in Malou’s eyes: “It is also a pitfall for myself and I am now confronted with the facts.”

Sarath cannot deny that this news comes as a shock. “Of course it hits me quite hard,” he says, “But the fact that you show your emotion says so much beautiful about you.” Malou certainly doesn’t want to give up hope. “I really believe we are a match.” Still, she misses certain things that she wants to talk to an expert about. “That indicates that the rejection does not have to be final,” Sarath notes hopefully.

But despite the conversation, Malou still has a knot in her stomach. She decides to have a second conversation with Sarath. “I don’t quite feel like I’ve been honest, not completely honest,” she begins her story. And then she repeats what she said earlier: “I don’t feel it.” She explains how she doesn’t light the fire, no matter how much she wants it to. “On paper you would really be the ideal partner for me, but I’m not in love with you and I won’t be. I’m just not going to fake

“This has to land with me,” responds Sarath, “This is as if I was coming out of the car with all my speed rollercoaster is flickering.” Tears are now rolling down his cheeks too. Sarath is left with many questions. “I can’t describe it in any other way than that something is dying inside. I don’t know what to do with myself right now. I don’t know what to do with everything.”

The distraught Malou decides to have a conversation with relationship coach Anne Campagne. “Very strange, but I love him too,” she sighs. “We are very much on the same page, but that reinforces my feeling that I have to be clear with him.” Anne then asks Sarath if he understands and recognizes the suffocation that Malou feels. “I can’t handle a compliment myself, but I do give it. I do something that I find unpleasant,” is his self-reflection.

The conversation with Anne gives the two plenty of food to think about. Although the first day in Lapland was certainly not an easy one, the expert has every confidence in the couple: “Now that you know what patterns are behind it, you can get started.”

Will Malou and Sarath’s marriage survive? Married at First Sight you can see it every Tuesday and Wednesday at 8:30 PM on RTL 4 and on Videoland.
