2nd edition of the Rniste Women’s Summit on “The empowerment of women, a real lever for development”
“The empowerment of women, a real lever for development” is the theme of the 2nd edition of the Rniste Women’s Summit organized on Saturday in Marrakech, at the initiative of the National Federation of Women of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) .
Enhanced by the participation of the President of the RNI, Aziz Akhannouch, several members of the government, the President of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, in addition to parliamentarians and party activists, guests brands and representatives of European political parties, this summit aims to highlight the achievements made by this partisan body in the field of strengthening the representation of women in elected bodies as well as the achievements related to the guarantee of the effectiveness of all women’s rights, including economic empowerment.
Speaking at the opening conference of this event, Mr. Akhannouch stressed that the government attaches great importance to the issue of women’s empowerment in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the orientations of the New Development Model. (NMD).
“We are working to implement an integrated and complementary public policy within the framework of the Government’s Plan for Equality, aimed at combating all forms of discrimination and violence against women and guaranteeing their economic rights”, said he added, noting that “the reign of HM King Mohammed VI is distinguished by an unfailing commitment to the promotion of human rights and their consecration and bold and wise ambitions for the expansion of the field freedoms”.
And to emphasize the particular interest that HM King Mohammed VI gives to the question of women’s rights crowned by the adoption of the Moudawana in 2004, which then represented, “a gentle revolution in comparison with ‘other legislation in our Arab-Muslim environment’, welcoming the positive interaction with the Royal initiative calling for the revision of the Moudawana, through the debates launched by the National Federation of Women Rnistes within the framework of its regional congresses , with a view to developing a clear and objective vision of the party’s approach and its positions with regard to the revision of this Code.
Mr. Akhannouch also called for the publication of a “White Paper” comprising, in addition to the recommendations of the debates relating to the new version of the Moudawana, the proposals likely to bring about the legal updating of the legal arsenal relating to women. , and the integration of the gender approach in the various public policies, indicating that this book, after its adoption by the Political Bureau of the party, will represent “the political offer of the party and the basis of its pleadings in concerns the question of women.
For her part, the President of the National Federation of RNI Women, Amina Benkhadra, stressed that the choice of the theme of this Summit stems from the party’s vision aimed at guaranteeing the effective participation of women in all areas, noting that the RNI has put women’s issues at the heart of its concerns, which has contributed to the emergence of women’s skills at the local and national levels.
In this context, Ms. Benkhadra stressed the importance of parallel organizations of the party, including the women’s and youth organizations of the RNI, noting that the National Federation of Women Rnistes is the “fruit of sustained actions and dynamics”. .
“All the components of the party are listening to the citizen in order to meet all the challenges and achieve the expected overall development, she added, indicating that the strategy of the Federation aims to strengthen the skills of the Rniste woman. through the organization of medical caravans and workshops on the use of new technologies, in addition to supporting women in rural areas and strengthening ties with Moroccans around the world.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad, Aïssata Tall Sal, for her part, expressed her deep gratitude to the National Federation of Women Rnistes for having invited her to this summit, emphasizing the strong relations spiritual links between Morocco and Senegal.
In this context, she noted that the relations uniting Morocco and Senegal, two countries sharing belonging to the same continent, are deep and historical relations, whose spiritual and cultural dimensions represent one of its important aspects.
Ms. Tall Sal, in this context, highlighted the achievements of her country concerning the strengthening of the presence and representativeness of women in political areas and within elected bodies, and the promotion of their economic empowerment, thanks to certain bodies such as the General Delegation for Rapid Entrepreneurship for Women and Young People.
The various national legislations aim to support the political rights of women, such as parity in legislative institutions and local authorities as well as the empowerment of women, she noted, calling for greater confidence in the competences of the woman, who is the basis of all socio-economic development.
In a statement to M24, MAP’s 24-hour news channel, Vice-President of the EPP Women’s Organization “EPP Women”, Walburga Lerchenfeld, underlined that this Summit will make it possible to inquire about the experience of the political practice of the women of the RNI party, noting that the situation of women in Morocco has undergone an unprecedented evolution in recent years.
Ms. Lerchenfeld also stressed the importance of highlighting this Moroccan experience for strengthening the presence of women in the management of public affairs in Europe.
The 2nd edition of the Women’s Rnist Summit includes, in addition to the screening of an institutional documentary retracing the missions and achievements of the National Federation of Rnist Women, workshops focused on “What protection for Moroccan women in the light of this legal arsenal”, “the encouragement of women’s skills in the economic field”, “the empowerment of women through education: Towards support mechanisms for the achievement of the SDGs” and “the social economy and solidarity, a lever for the integration and empowerment of women”.
