Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Repsol Honda Racers Marc Marquez Denies trailing Joan Mir during qualifying MotoGP San Marino 2021. Marquez said following other riders was normal.
Marquez is back in the spotlight ahead of the 2021 San Marino MotoGP race at the Misano Circuit, Sunday (19/9) evening Indonesian time.
That was after Marquez was again caught trailing other racers during the qualifying session. First, he followed his fellow Honda, Stefan Bradl in qualifying one (Q1) MotoGP San Marino, Saturday (18/9).
Thanks to the trailing tactic, Marquez managed to qualify for qualifying 2 (Q2). While in Q2, Marquez trailed Suzuki racer Joan Mir, making his opponent feel uncomfortable.
Even so, Marquez denied having followed Joan Mir in Q2 MotoGP San Marino.
“First of all in qualifying I did not follow Mir. I followed Stefan Bradl, basically we did a very good job,” said Marquez quoted from Motorsport.com.
“It was my idea and HRC agreed. He just went in front and I was able to do a good lap time behind Bradl and progress to Q2.”
Regarding Mir’s satire who called Marquez the world champion but always followed other racers, The Baby Alien responded casually.
Even Marquez admitted that Mir had told him that following other racers who were in front was something normal.
“As for Mir, I’ve talked to him in the media and he told me‘ It doesn’t matter what they ask you, because I say as they write ’,” Marquez said.
“He also said it’s normal for slower drivers to try to find faster drivers to follow. This is still normal, as long as he doesn’t disturb other riders.”
The tailing tactic finally made Marquez ensure a start from the seventh position of the MotoGP San Marino 2021. Meanwhile, Joan Mir actually had to start from the 11th position. Meanwhile, the pole position is occupied by Francesco Bagnaia.
The 2021 San Marino MotoGP race will be held at the Misano Circuit, Sunday (19/9). Live streaming MotoGP San Marino 2021 can be seen through CNNIndonesia.com. Meanwhile, live broadcasts can be watched via Trans7.
