In this series, Marni expresses his pursuit of romanticism through silhouette and color, giving people a strong visual impact. The dark tones overflow with joy and bright contrasting colors. It is true that black is also a more intense romantic expression. As a visual fallacy, its essence is a mixture of all colors. With our gradual decomposition of black, through fading, sun exposure, printing and dyeing, etc., the bright colors appear in the form of an ever-extending halo, forming shapes like keys, scissors, roses, and sunflowers. The eternal memories left on the clothes. Naturally, everything will return to the mother of the earth, so pure and uncorroded.

We drew on the proud skills and elements of those garment craftsmanship: volume, pleating, construction and deconstruction, zipper and pleated trim. Using these tangible craftsmanship to recreate the classics we love through emotional perspective, from windbreakers to men’s shirts, from hoodies to motorcycle jackets, to ribbed pullovers, down and water-glove sweaters. Through the waist cut design, the shirt has a corsage-like exquisiteness, while the windbreaker has a rounded silhouette like a cake petticoat. The hoodie is exaggerated like an opera cape, the motorcycle jacket is given a blanket cut, and the down jacket has a shawl-like silhouette. The zipper is covered with ruffles, forming a punk-style floral ornament. As a symbol of romanticism, pleated trim is constantly emphasized in this series and used in all kinds of ready-made clothes. There is also no shortage of amazing quilted jackets, relaxed and environmentally friendly furs, hand-dyed trousers, lazy crochet pullovers, and formal jackets made of nylon and taffeta. Colors emerge from the black and pour down, like the landscape of Zabrski’s point, embellished with jewelry accessories designed in collaboration with Tom Binns — bringing daily handy accessories to life with redesigns.

The Marni 2021 autumn and winter series is like a fable, filled with emotional entanglements, and projected this strong emotion into the silhouette of the clothing. Everything seems extremely private and subjective, which is why we decided to let this fashion show, which is a conversation with clothing, unfold in a private way, and have breakfast, lunch and dinner with our friends.
