Moderator Marlene Lufen gets a prime-time place for discussion after her emotional corona video. But the show met with heavy criticism.
Berlin – At the end of January, the Sat.1 presenter Marlene Lufen posted an emotional video on her Instagram account in which, among other things, she addresses the psychological consequences of the lockdown for children and the mentally ill as well as the heightened danger situation for those affected by domestic violence. The video seemed to speak from the soul of many viewers, now has over 11 million views and has been shared countless times.
However, there was also criticism: Lufen only presents some facts in shortened form and the sometimes emotionally charged messages could also play into the hands of pandemic deniers – from which the moderator, however, distances herself. In an Instagram live stream with journalist Dunja Hayali, Lufen then expresses himself in more detail on the topic.
Marlene Lufen moderates a special program on the subject of lockdown loads
After the enormous response to the posted video, Lufen now hosted a talk show with school spokesman Alexander Löhr, blogger Charis Krüger, who is herself suffering from depression, cook and entrepreneur Tim Raue and pediatrician Dr. Karella Easwaran. Lufen would like to, so she writes in her Instagram post with the broadcast announcement, “to talk to those who do not feel heard enough. Their problems must be taken seriously. “
Marlene Lufen: Massive criticism on Twitter of the Corona broadcast
But the show doesn’t have the same impact as the previous video, the audience rating is low and the talk itself is sometimes heavily criticized. Especially on Twitter, the reactions are not in favor of the group. “Discuss openly. Before Corona, people were doing badly, just for different reasons. They didn’t ask about it, let alone talk about it, ”writes one user.
Marlene Lufen is accused of imbalance
The arguments of the critics summarized: Lufen plays lateral thinkers in the hands, is not very solution-oriented and the program is overall unbalanced. One commentator admits to the moderator that “Marlene Lufen doesn’t have to present a solution”, but also adds “I would have liked a more balanced view from her in her ‘role’ as a journalist. Less emotional ‘accusation’, more weighing up that there are also good arguments for the current measures ”.
This user sees it similarly: “How undifferentiated this program was. Why didn’t anyone come from healthcare? Someone who was sick with Covid or lost loved ones? Someone who classifies the statements, questions them? Collective whining instead of solidarity, great. “
Lufen draws attention to important issues with video and broadcast – however, the implementation shows clear gaps from the point of view of the network community. (me)
