Marlaska promotes the general who sparked the controversy over the Civil Guard’s effort against hoaxes | Politics

The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has signed the promotion of Brigadier General José Manuel Santiago Marín to Chief of Staff of the Civil Guard, as published this Friday by the Official State Gazette (BOE). Until now, General Santiago held the second position in the Armed Institute.

General Santiago had already been serving as Chief of the General Staff on an interim basis since Brigadier General José Luis Arranz retired at the end of 2019. In the BOE appears the order of cessation as second chief and the new one in which General Santiago is appointed chief of the General Staff of the Civil Guard, by virtue of Organic Law 2/1986, of Security Forces and Bodies, and of Law 29/2014 on the Civil Guard Personnel Regime. Today’s BOE also includes another appointment, that of Brigadier General Moisés González Sesma, who has been promoted and will serve as second Chief of Staff.

Appointment It is carried out at the proposal of the general director of the Civil Guard, María Gámez, and with the agreement of the Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez.
