The song “Lose Control” was created together with partners in Ukraine – in cooperation with the Ukrainian producer Roman Nepomniashchii, with whom several songs in Ukrainian and English have already been released. The new song is kept in the genre of energetic and appealing dance music (it won’t be surprising if it turns out that Markus Riva also submitted it to “Supernova”…) and invites you to completely forget yourself in the dance. “This is exactly Markus’ wish for his listeners this year – to indulge in life like a dance, enjoying every minute of it and not thinking about how it might look to an observer from the outside,” says the musician’s PR team.
“I applied for the first song of the year in Latvia,” laughs Markus Riva. “But seriously, the anniversary is traditionally a time when we set various goals and make new year’s resolutions, and I decided that even better than resolutions is to do! Then I finished recording the song and hastened to organize the filming of the clip in order to start the year with musical news.”
The music video for the song was directed by Pavel Trebukhin and was filmed at Kalnu Culture House, Nygrande. The video is produced by Markus himself, and the musician is not afraid to poke fun at himself. “The song is about breaking out of one’s self, society’s stereotypes and norms, personal freedom and is dedicated to all those who feel misunderstood, limited or oppressed. Various symbols are played in the video, which everyone can interpret in their own way,” says Markus Riva.
Currently, Markus continues to work on his first album in Ukrainian, in parallel with the material in Latvian, and as he says, musical horizons can never be too wide, so 2024 promises to be particularly productive in his creative activity.
