The single was created together with partners in Ukraine and invites you to completely forget yourself in the dance. This is exactly what Markus wishes to his listeners this year – to indulge in life like a dance, enjoying every minute of it and not thinking about how it might look to an observer from the outside.
“Lose Control” was created in collaboration with Ukrainian producer Roman Nepomašchyi, with whom he has released several songs in Ukrainian and English, and is in the dance music genre. The song follows the single “One Night” released in November, which was released in collaboration with well-known Polish DJ and producer MYSZKOVSKI and has already conquered radio stations and dance floors in Poland, Ukraine and Latvia.
“I applied for the first song of the year in Latvia”, laughs Markus Riva, “but seriously, the anniversary is traditionally the time when we set various goals and make new year’s resolutions, and I decided that doing is even better than making a resolution! Then I finished recording the song and I hasten to organize the filming of the clip to start the year with musical news”.
The music video for the song was directed by Pavel Trebukhin and was shot at the Kalnu Culture House in Nygrande. The video was produced by Markus, and the musician was not afraid to poke fun at himself.
“The song is about breaking out of your EU, society’s stereotypes and norms, personal freedom and is dedicated to all those who feel misunderstood, restricted or oppressed. Various symbols are played in the video, which everyone can interpret in their own way”, says Markus.
Markus Riva, who is also known in Latvia for his musical activities outside the country’s borders, does not hide that this year will not be an exception. He would be happy for the song’s success outside of Latvia as well, so he chose to release it in English, but it is only a small part of his plans for the year. Markus is also preparing his first album in Ukrainian, continues to work on material in Latvian, and as he says – musical horizons can never be too wide, so 2024 promises to be particularly fruitful in his creative activity.
