Markus Riva, Adriana Miglāne, Patriša and others are fighting for Eurovision

For participation in the Latvian television music competition “Supernova” in the semi-final, the jury has chosen 15 participants who will compete live on February 4 to enter the final. The winner of the competition, which will be determined by the jury and the public in the final vote on February 11, will have the opportunity to represent Latvia at the international Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, Great Britain, in May.

“Supernova” will be managed again this year by Ketija Šenberga and Lauris Reiniks. In the semi-final, the public will have the opportunity to get to know the participants and evaluate the live performance of the pieces for the first time, while in the final – to choose the winner of the competition. In both the semi-final and the final, the role of the audience and the jury will be equally important: the best will be determined by the overall rating of the calls and messages from the audience and the vote of the jury.

Two young musicians joined forces in the group: Kārlis Grīnbergs, leader and member of the percussion trio “Brāļi Grīnbergi”, as well as Ernests Vīgner, the successor of the Vīgner dynasty. Kārlis learns jazz drums in 1st year of Jāzeps Vītolas Latvian Music Academy, Ernests – jazz piano in 4th year of Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Music High School. The group started its activity in August 2022, when it presented its first single “Girl from the city”.

Adriana says she is a singer, a mother and just a person who likes to inspire other people. She has been singing since the age of three, she has proven herself professionally in several competitions: she won 3rd place in the first season of the Latvian “X Factor” and was a finalist in the “Voices of Lithuania 2019” competition.

Alice was born into a Japanese and Latvian family, lived in Japan until the age of 11, where she discovered her singing skills while performing karaoke. Lives in Latvia since 2009. Sang in vocal studio “April drops”, won prizes in music competitions – 2nd place “Baltic Voice 2016”, 1st place “Nida Intercomm 2015”, 1st place “Klaipeda 2017″, is was a finalist of the first season of Latvia ” Factors X”.

Artūrs Hatti (real name Artūrs Dominiks Hatulievs) is a young 24-year-old musician who has been singing since childhood, but professionally for less than three years. Two years ago, Artur started a collaboration with Reika, the two created four songs and videos together. At the end of 2022, Artur released the single “Love Vibes”, which was written in the musical field “Zvaigznāja”. The musician’s dream is to represent Latvia in the Eurovision final. In 2023, Arthur plans to release several singles, in addition to his debut album.

Avéi says her mother and aunt used to sing music to her cradle. She studied at the “Pigoriņi” school of music and vocal studio, she participated in the “Voice Master” and “X Factor” competitions. At the “RIGaLIVE” camp, she found inspiration and confidence to do what she likes best.

The group was created by Aivars Lietaunieks in 2020, after releasing a few singles in 2021, Nadīna Stirniniece joined Aivars and the first EP “Space Between” was recorded. With the song “A Happy Place”, the group debuted in the 2022 “Supernova” competition, taking 8th place in the final voting. In 2022, the group actively gave concerts and released the second album “Duality”, which also includes songs in Latvian and collaborations with popular performers in Latvia – the group “Sub Scriptum” and Undīni Balodi – the cellist of the group “The Sound Poets “.

Just starting his musical career as a street musician, in 2015 he joined the hip hop group “Gacho”. In 2016 she won “Supernova” and represented Latvia in Eurovision with the song “Heartbeat”. From 2018 to 2021, Just studied music production at BIMM University in Great Britain.

Katrine Miller is a Latvian-born singer born and raised in Sweden. The musician made her debut in “Supernova” in 2014, she also took part in the competition in 2018 and 2019. One of the most popular songs in the musician’s career is the song “Laiks”, written in 2020, together with the group “Rock’n’ berries”. The latest song “Hey, little” by Katrína and the band “Rock’n’Berries” was created in 2022 in collaboration with the legendary band “Odis”.

In 2021, Luize graduated from Đāži School of Art and Music, where she studied singing with Uģas Roze. She is currently studying at the Riga Cathedral Choir School in conducting musical singers and she sings in the school gospel choir. “You To Hold Me” is Louise’s first original song that reached listeners, having participated since childhood in the vocal contests “Balss pawelnieks”, “Năc saziedāt” etc.

Markus Riva is a musician, TV presenter, model and DJ, who has starred in TV series and film projects. He has released music albums in Latvian, English, Russian and Ukrainian, won prizes in music competitions in Latvia, Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan. He repeatedly participated in the national selection of Eurovision-the contest “Supernova”.

Patriša (real name Patricija Ksenija Cuprijanovića) has been singing since childhood, attended the creative studio for children and youth “Star Island” and participated in more than sixty vocal competitions in Latvia and abroad. In 2016, “Молода Галичина” won second place in the Ukrainian competition. In early 2019, Patrisha became the first musician in Latvia to sign a contract with one of the largest music publishing houses in the world, “Universal Music Group”, under whose auspices several singles and EP album were released ” Patrisha was here”. In 2020, the musician won the “Zelta Mikrofons” Music Recording of the Year award in the “Best Debut” category.

Raum (real name Reinis Straume) is a musician and songwriter whose singles “Laimīgāks”, “Yumts brauc” etc. they occupied high positions in the charts of leading Latvian radio stations in 2021 and 2022. With the song “Plans” Raum entered the finals of “Supernova” in 2022. The musician was one of the prominent members of the group “Double Faced Eels” for several years, as well as author of music and lyrics. RAUM is the first Latvian artist who has signed a contract with the record company “Warner Music Baltics”.

Saule (real name Krišjānis Suntažs) is a young musician who wants to introduce himself to Latvian music. Together with producer Roland Privert, he is preparing the first album, the herald of which is the song “Finally Happy” applied to “Supernova”.

The self-penned music of “Sudden Lights” is dominated by pop-rock style, complemented by a slightly alternative mood. Since its foundation, the group has released three albums: ‘Suburbs’ (2017), ‘Vislabāk ir tur kur manis nava’ (2019) and ‘Miljards vasaru’ (2022). The group spent 2022 in an active concert life – performed at the largest Latvian festivals and went on a concert tour. New musical collaborations with rapper Zeļgi and mysterious ZeBreni also began.

Toms announced himself to the general public in the 2017 “Supernova” competition, released a total of seven singles, participated in various musical theater projects: “RENT”, “Kaupēn, mans mālilais”, “Zvaigznes ļīts”, “Agrā rūsa”, etc. Currently he sings musical accompaniment for children’s animated series and films.

The entry of songs and artists into the semi-finals of the “Supernova” competition was determined by a jury selected by LTV, which includes representatives of the Latvian music, event and television industries, as well as foreign professionals. For security reasons, LTV will once again reveal the names of the jury representatives only after the international Eurovision Song Contest in May.
