Another promising talent, Markus Freis, is moving back to Westparkstrasse. Born in Krefeld, he played for the Cologne Junghaien in the student league and DNL for the last four years. Markus Freis has already completed 19 international matches for the German U-national teams and is currently also in the squad of the U18 selection of coach Steffen Ziesche.
“We are happy that Markus is back in Krefeld, the contact with him has never been broken off and in the end our concept convinced him that he can take the next step into professional ice hockey with us. The players see that we use and support them in the top league if they perform well, regardless of their age, ”explains Sports Director Elmar Schmitz.
The best example is Leon Schuster, who moved from Mannheim to Krefeld in the summer and has now fought for a regular place in the U23 team. “The training of the boys takes precedence over the result and we give them the time and the opportunity to develop accordingly,” continues Schmitz about the mission statement of the KEV.
Markus Freis will be licensed for both the DNL / U20 and the U23 in the Oberliga and can thus still be used for both teams this season. Perhaps his training performance will soon be rewarded with a performance in the U23.
