Marko Simic managed to score his debut goal with Persija Jakarta this season when he beat Bhayangkara FC 4-1 in the third week of League 1, Sunday (16/7).

Simic was flooded with criticism after appearing under-performed against Persikabo 1973 in the second week of League 1.

The Croatian striker was considered to be finished because he was unable to complete a series of opportunities, including a shot that flew high which had become the highlight of The Jakmania.

However, Simic managed to answer criticism by scoring two goals when he was trusted to appear from the early minutes in the Persija vs Bhayangkara match.

Simic’s first goal came via a penalty in the 18th minute. While Simic’s second goal using Witan Sulaeman’s bait was very impressive.

Receiving Witan’s cross in the penalty box, Simic first controlled the ball with his right foot before turning around to fire a hard shot with his left foot which successfully hit Awan Setho’s goal.

Simic showed his ingenuity as a classy bomber by tricking defender Abdul Rahman who could only stick to him from behind.

This goal was enough to silence criticism from netizens who had blasphemed him out last week. Now, a number of netizens have turned to praising Super Simic like a hero.

Apart from that, some netizens also apologized for making fun of Simic, who was originally considered inappropriate to be played as a starter again at Persija this season.

“Mic, I’m sorry for ever suggesting locking you in the bathroom,” joked one netizen on Instagram.

“This match teaches us to forget the past. Simic is Back!” said another netizen.

While netizens on Twitter are even creative in making a replica of the apology form addressed to Marko Simic.

At the age of 35, Simic no longer has speed. However, the positioning and accuracy of shots in the penalty box are still not bad.

It’s just a matter of how Simic consistently maintains his sharpness according to coach Thomas Doll’s tactics.
