Marko: “Hamilton drove extra slowly ahead of Verstappen in VT3”

Yesterday afternoon Max Verstappen complained about the fact that he would have been in the way in qualifying for the Grand Prix of Portugal. However, that was already the case in the third free practice, and although the consequences were logically less dramatic, according to Red Bull team advisor it does indicate something.

After all, in VT3 it was Lewis Hamilton who would have stopped Verstappen, the Austrian points out in the conversation with Sky: “We saw today that Hamilton drove extra slow and thus ruined Verstappen’s lap.”

In the end, Verstappen would still ride the fastest lap, but it was not the first time that Marko had to conclude that Hamilton is very concerned with the mental aspect of the battle with Verstappen. He also showed this at Imola by not wanting to give way to Verstappen in the first corner on principle.

“I was very surprised that Hamilton left his car. He was lucky that he didn’t break his car on the curbs. I also believe that this can continue to go well.”
